Until I looked at the Herald website this morning, I hadn't even thought about how the Victoria bushfires would effect the poor koalas - and for that matter, the wombats and kangaroos and all those animals that live the bush there. This totally sucks.

This was taken from the Herald website - here's a link to the story - Koala rescue highlights compassion in bushfire tragedy.

It's so freaking hot.
I have a a horrible fro today it is so hot.
I'm so over it. Thank god for workplace air conditioning is all I can say.

Hello everyone. I am back from a temporary hiatus for approx 1.5 years.
I hope all my LJ friends are well.

I am now going to include some photos and leave it at that. When I think of a witty/interesting thing to say, I'll do it. No sense in forcing these things.

I do want to say that whoever lit those fires in Victoria is a COMPLETE DICK. And I think it is great that we are lending Australia some firefighters. Jim Anderton said on Parliamentary TV earlier today that as a percentage the number of lives lost in the area the fire has effected is the same as in New York City on 9/11. It's a real freaking actrocity and I hope they are able to curtail it soon, and find that lunatic(s) who did it.

Contemplating a swim at Pt Chev - tide is out, but man it's too hot to be sitting around here. xx

Yuletide happy times :P We were very *tired*.

cheerful

current mood: cheerful

We're back. Yes, it's a little weird, but I am mainly happy to be home to see all my awesome friends and family.
One highlight was to see Luisa again for the first time in I think over a year! We had a great time. We did real "American" things, including Ice-skating in Central Park, a diner dinner at TGI Fridays, and a few beers at Hooters. It was a real experience.

( After a few manhattans and chocolate martinis! )

I am worried that my cat is sad. She keeps miaoing in a wierd way. I am pretty sure she is not sick. I can't help but wonder if she is acting sad on purpose, to make me feel bad for not being at home for the last three weeks? Can cats really manipulate like that - are they that conniving?

Anyone got any tips for me to get back into Bobby's good books? At the moment, the only thing that seems to make her happy is this old shipskin rug that she bites and kneads for like 30 minutes at a time - it's weird too. And cheese.

It's been such a long time since I have updated my journal, that I am not even sure that there is any point. But hey, since when did purpose stop me.

I had such an awesome time tonight. The library pub quiz team went to quiz after a bit of deliberation, at whats-it-called...the playhouse, and man, did we lose big time. But it was fun all the same. I got masses of sour cream on my "cottage fries", which is always exciting. We had heaps of beers, I spent a mint on my credit card (the card which I swore I would not use till November when we go overseas) and had a all-round awesome time. It's definitely worth it. And even if we suck a quiz, and our spririts are low because of it, we know that the arcade visit afterwards will always cheer us up and make us feel like winners again.

Drummania is the the freakin' greatest game ever invented. Ever. I'd challenge anyone to a game, and then I would get Rachael to play them, and I can guarantee you that if there were a "drum-off" she would kick their arse. Hand's down. Perhaps not hands down, because hands are pretty important to the whole drumming thing, but she'd be able to beat you, without even looking. In fact, I bet you ( I hope you are with me Rach) that, with a bit of lunch-time practice, Rach could probably perfect 'eyes of kids', ironically, without using her eyes. Yes, I think that she could learn how to play 'eyes of kids' without looking. Seeing as drummania now lives less that 300 metres away from work she'd be able to get quite a bit of practice in.

If anyone thinks they can beat her, then let me know.

I bet $5 pro team Rachael.
